  • I'm Not Moving, Just Expanding

The "expanding" part could also apply to my weight. But, that's not really what I'm talking about in this post. I started another blog so I can write more. I know people out there like watching videos and seeing pictures of my family, but I want to be able to write more thoughts down. This Xanga site will still remain but mainly for updating people with pictures and videos as I live 'La Vida Daddy.'

The address for my other site is: www.ajosephcastillo.com.

    Thanks for reading.

  • The Filipino Gene is Alive and Well

Prepare yourself for some massive cuteness. The video below is confirmation that our daughter does have some Filipino genes in her. Though it is true that she has her mother's skin and complexion (thank goodness), and that she can crawl like a ninja (stealth!), after you see the video you will know that she has some "brown power" in her.

  • Summer Update

The following is my life in pictures since classes ended in June. Actually, it begins a little before school ended in May. It has been hectic and a whirlwind but it is starting to slow down. Though I am still in the middle of preparing for my fourth sermon in five weeks for church, it is relatively slower. I am enjoying life, spending time with my family, reading the books I want to read and watching movies again. Please enjoy the photos below.

At the end of May, we moved from our condo to a townhouse.
It was sad to leave the place because it had a lot of history for
me and my wife, though I have only lived there for less than
two years. We moved to a much bigger place closer to church.

As a result of the move, I messed up my back. I still am struggling
with it to this day. The photo above was taken on Father's Day at
my in-law's house. Earlier that day there was a church picnic and
water fight between dads and kids, in which I participated as a
"new" dad. I aggravated my back.
    How pathetic am I?

At the end of June, my wife and I volunteered at Special Camp.
The biggest change for this year's camp for us - our daughter.
She is definitely going to be raised as a "Special Camp baby" as
we served even as she was with us at Mt. Hermon, though
she spent most of her time at daycare. The big news at the camp,
unfortunately, was the stomach flu that was passed around to a
number of campers and aides. Some college students who shared
the campsite with us also got it. To those who prayed for us,
thanks. Also, I do not think I had the stomach flu because I was
much better by late evening. But, thank you for praying for me.

My family and I took a nice, short trip to Gilroy, the garlic capital
of the U.S. There is an amusement park called the Gilroy Gardens
and it was actually not bad. It is for little kids and they had all
of these rides that had vegetable themes based on the classics -
artichokes, garlic, etc. Our baby girl is riding a non-veggie ride
    in the photo directly above.

Well, that is it for now. Hope you enjoyed the photos. Oh, and if
you would like more photos and videos of our kid, check out:

    Thanks for reading.

  • All That And A Bag of Chips...

Does anyone really use that phrase anymore? Anyway, I finally saw Iron Man tonight with a friend and it certainly was 'all that and a bag of chips.' It was a very good movie and the final scene AFTER the credits was very good also. I can't wait to see what happens to this Marvel Universe.

Thanks for the suggestions that people gave about Iron Man.

Next up - the Dark Knight!
